There are five months left of this year of school, which is a half empty/half full situation. The rough section of the school year - the dead middle - has officially hit, and there are many little things to alter into your schedule that can possibly save your GPA during this time of the year.
The number one piece of advice is to stay organized and motivated. Keep a neat agenda and fill it with assignments and goals as you go through your school-day. I write down absolutely everything from assignments to my work schedule in my planner, giving me a sense of organization. I have a bundle of different colored pens to take notes with for my agenda or in class. It is extremely important to develop a system for note taking that makes sense mostly for you when you are reviewing your notes.
Moving on, when studying, sit in an area where you can really focus. I found that lighting a candle, getting in comfy clothes, and listening to non-distracting music also helps me tune into the actual homework. Study for the tests seriously, and before you make plans or try to fit another activity into your schedule, make sure you will not be overstressed with the bundles of homework piling up in the bottom of your backpack.
Make to-do lists and rewards with the achievement of them as well as a motivation to actually complete the work. In the end, high school does ultimately affect your future, so it is important to always do your best and stay on your A-game. Good luck with the rocky roads ahead! Remember, there is nearly always something you can do to bring up your grade but always do your best throughout the year!
