Ms. Olson is a new teacher here at Tech. Graduating college just over a month ago, she has replaced Mr. Krueger over winter break. We asked her some questions to get to know her better.
Talk a little bit about your family and fiancé.
I have a very large family. I have 3 wonderful parents, a mom, dad and step dad. I also have an AMAZING grandma. I have four biological brothers, six step siblings, and lots of beautiful nieces and nephews. Now that I am engaged, I have the best in-laws I could ask for. I just got engaged over the winter break to my fiancé whom I have been with for three + years. He is an alumni of District 742!
What college did you go to?
I went to SCSU and graduated with a degree in Social Studies Education with an emphasis in Economics.
What classes do you teach?
I teach Practical Law to juniors and seniors and World History to sophomores. I really enjoy teaching the different grade levels throughout the day.
What are some things you like so far about Tech?
The staff at Tech has been so welcoming so that has been wonderful. I love the diversity within the school and the various opportunities to students to be involved in. Also, my students are wonderful!
Why did you want to become a teacher?
I wanted to become a teacher because I enjoy working with kids and sharing my passions and teaching them not only the curriculum, but also how to problem solve, achieve goals, and become successful individuals in society. Teachers are able to be a positive and encouraging light in the lives of students almost everyday, and that is enough to keep me coming back everyday and loving what I do.
What do you think about the new Tech?
The new Tech seems to have a lot of great things such as technology and resources to provide a good learning environment for the students. They provide positive and engaging learning spaces that will increase the teaching and learning capabilities for both the staff and students alike.
