In high school, it is unlikely that someone will go trick-or-treating on Halloween. Here are a few ideas of what to do instead on that spooky night.
One of the most common alternatives to going trick-or- treating is to watch a scary movie or two. It can get someone into the spirit of Halloween while allowing them to stay at home. The movies can be easily found on Netflix or rented. It is simple to do and flexible, as the people may also be able to do other activities with the movie.
Another activity that is common to do is going to a haunted house. There are so
many local options to experience the frightening jump-scares such as Molitor’s and Harvest of Horror. Most of the options are open on Halloween, too.
Hosting or going to a baking party can be fun on Halloween, too. This may include baking themed food or just having a baking contest. This can be a creative way to celebrate Halloween and have some fun with friends.
One can make recipes that they find online or make something they already know how to bake with a new twist on it. Included in the mix are items such as pumpkin pie, things that look like something related to Halloween, something sweet, and anything that is pumpkin spice.
A pumpkin carving contest could have the potential to be a fun, new tradition. The contest does not have to be super competitive. Although, it could be a good pastime to have a contest and see who can create the best carving of whatever design or character they choose. It could also just be a time where people carve pumpkins
with whatever they want to do.
Another way to spend Halloween is having a bonfire. Bonfires are a great way to stay warm as temperatures tend to drop late in October. They are a fun way to roast marshmallows and, not to mention, telling scary stories. Bonfires allow you to be in an outdoor setting and they are a great way to relax and catch up with friends.
Handing out candy to trick-or-treaters is a great alternative to trick-or-treating yourself. You get to see all the cool costumes kids dress up as and it's a fun way reminisce on the days when you went yourself. And the best part is, you get all the leftover candy.
Another way to spend Halloween night is hosting or going to a costume party. Having a costume party is one of the best ways to get in on the Halloween festivities. Going to thrift stores and picking up some fun pieces is a great way to inexpensively purchase a fun Halloween costume. You and your boo (no pun intended) can even do fun matching costumes.
Although some may not believe in spirits, using a Ouija board may be a fun and spooky way to spend Halloween night. Ouija boards are used to contact spirits that may be nearby, and even though they typically don’t work, maybe it'll be your lucky (or not so lucky) night.
